Informed Consent for Acupuncture Treatment

Thank you for choosing Willow & Womb.

Before commencing treatment, it is important that you understand the nature of acupuncture, its potential benefits and risks, and your rights as a patient. Please read the following information carefully and ask any questions you may have before signing this consent.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a regulated healthcare profession practised by registered Chinese Medicine practitioners. Treatment involves the insertion of fine, single-use sterile needles into specific points on the body to support health and wellbeing.

Treatment may also include other Chinese medicine techniques where clinically appropriate, including:

  • Manual acupuncture

  • Electroacupuncture

  • Moxibustion (Moxa)

  • Cupping therapy

  • Gua Sha

  • Acupressure

  • Lifestyle, dietary or self-care recommendations

These techniques will only be used with your consent.

Expected Benefits

While individual responses vary, acupuncture may assist in supporting your health and wellbeing. The expected benefits, limitations and treatment recommendations will be discussed with you based on your individual presentation.

No guarantee or promise can be made regarding treatment outcomes.

Possible Risks and Side Effects

  • Allergic reaction to materials used

  • Burns or blistering from moxibustion
